LRIT (Long Range Identification and Tracking)

LRIT Certification and Testing

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations responsible for the safety and security of shipping and the prevention of marine and atmospheric pollution by ships.

IMO has established the Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) system to collect and disseminate ship position data from ships subject to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS). LRIT provides a satellite-based, real-time reporting mechanism that offers unique visibility to ship position reports, which would otherwise be invisible, potentially posing a threat to IMO member states.

In 2006, IMO's Maritime Safety Committee adopted the MSC.202(81) Resolution requiring certification and testing for LRIT. Deckhouse Communications Inc. is happy to ensure that your ship is compliant. Contact us today to arrange certification or schedule a test.
