The International Maritime Organization (IMO) is a specialized United Nations agency responsible for the safety and security of shipping and the prevention of marine and atmospheric pollution by ships
The IMO designated the long-range identification and tracking (LRIT) system to collect and disseminate vessel position information received from IMO member state ships that are subject to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea. LRIT is a satellite-based, real-time reporting mechanism that allows unique visibility to position reports of vessels that would otherwise be invisible and a potential threat to IMO member states.
The IMO’s Maritime Safety Committee adopted Resolution MSC.202(81) in 2006 requiring certification and testing for LRIT. Deckhouse Communications Inc would be happy to make sure your ship is in compliance. Contact us today to arrange your certification or set up a test.
Deckhouse is a distributor of Fulcrum Maritime Systems which is a global supplier of LRIT Conformance Testing Services, approved by over 90 Flag States (countries) as an Approved LRIT Testing ASP and providing LRIT Data Centre services to over 50 Flag States, including the European Union, the Caribbean Cooperative Data Centre and the Bahamas Maritime Authority
Fulcrum Maritime Systems joined the Prototype LRIT Group in 2008, working with and supporting the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and the International Mobile Satellite Organization – http://www.imso.org/public/LRIT) in the development of what is today, the international LRIT system.
